For those of you who have Hillary (or Obama) friends, relatives or acquaintances that have decided that they will vote for McCain if Obama (or Hillary) wins the nomination, you might want to share this with them, especially if they are against the war.
I am listening right now to an interview from today's Democracy Now! with Robert Dreyfuss of The Nation, who is essentially explaining that the chief politician who was responsible for Bush's push for the surge was John McCain. He comments that for McCain, Bill Kristol (one of the chief architects of the neocon agenda) was an "angel on his shoulder" who mentored McCain into becoming a true neocon, and that McCain was the number one voice for advocating for a surge rather than a troop reduction. With Sen. Lieberman at his side, McCain worked with Robert and Frederick Kagan who were the authors of the plan from the American Enterprise Institute. It was the team of McCain, both Kagans and Cheney who convinced Bush to do the surge. McCain is responsible for the idea of using Iraq as an "aircraft carrier" (Robert Dreyfuss's words) for our continued presence in the Middle East to "face threats" and "secure our interests" in the region, and is responsible for why we are still there. McCain really meant it when he said we might be in Iraq for 10, 100 or 10,000 years. This was not hyperbole. He probably really means it too when he sings "Bomb, Bomb, Bomb... Bomb Bomb Iran".
A short clip of this is here. I'm not sure of how to add realvideo to this site, sorry. Can do youtube, but not this stuff. The full version of Democracy Now, which also has a story about Chalabi's roll and influence on this war, is here.
This is probably not a surprise for anyone here, as it was not for me, but it might be for Hillary (or Obama) fans who have vowed to vote McCain if Obama (or Hillary) is the nominee, and who are also against this bloody mess we have gotten ourself into in the Middle East. He really meant it when he said "more wars and less jobs". Friends don't let friends vote for John McCain, nor do Americans let Americans, if they care about this country.
We can't afford this. Save the country. Vote Democratic.
