Hurray! We worked out the financial details and are now registered, and waiting for the registration confirmation from Yearly Kos. My husband and I are now going to try and work out the cheapest airfare with frequent flier miles, but we registered and made reservations!
So I would like to have a rather informal discussion about what to expect since this will be our first Yearly Kos. I would have done this on the Yearly Kos site, but I think more people are likely to respond here.
Discuss after the flip?
I would like some input from those who attended the first Yearly Kos. I know to expect exciting times - cuz I already AM excited, but what are your fondest memories, your most interesting observations, the most exciting interactions you had, the most important things you took back with you from the convention? Or other things you would like to share? I'm sure there's a lot to share!
And I would like to hear from those, who like my husband and me, have never been to Yearly Kos, what would we like to experience?
I've been to numerous conventions, from fiber related, to newage/religious and scifi conventions, and while these are fun and educational, they probably don't have the impact that a blogging/political convention is likely to have.
Please share any videos you have on line from last year (I've seen some on YouTube).
Let's network too. Who would you like to say hello to, have a beer with, get to know better?
I'm excited. Ya, it's 8 months away, and I'm registrar number 285, so I know a lot more people will sign up and are still deciding to sign up, so this will just build over the next eight months! ANTICIPATION!... Which candidates do you think will show up? Which luminaries? Which media?
Finally, Chicago... I've driven through there but never stayed there for any extended period of time. I know for sure there's one place I must go to have dinner, and that's Rick Bayless's Frontera Grill. Anyone with me? He's one of the best Mexican Chefs in the country. I think the only person who can compete with him is probably the Chef of Casa Poca Cosa in Tucson, AZ, Suzana Davilla is a wonderful creative chef, so if you ever go to Tucson, a lovely city, please make sure you check her place out. I'm assuming there are a lot more terrific restaurants there, and I would love to know a great place to experience the pizza of Chicago!
Any other recommends for Chicago, (I'm assuming Jazz is good there), greatly appreciated.
So, let's chat!
